Who should take this course?
This course provides training on HERS approved software and the two required trainer supervised ratings to complete required HERS Rater training. The student must provide proof of passing the HERS Rater written test. Trial version of software and other support documents will be sent when course registration is received.

What will you learn?

  1. How to produce a complete home energy analysis using REM/Rate™, a computerized home energy modeling program.
  2. How to apply the software for a rating from building plans.
  3. How to apply the software for a completed home.

Prerequisites for Course: Proof of having passed the RESNET National written exam.

How will you become certified?
To become certified as a professional home energy rater, pass the RESNET national rater exam, complete the two supervised ratings in this course, join a Rating Provider, and complete a minimum of three (3) field ratings under the supervision of your Rating Provider. Doing so, you will be able to produce energy rating reports that will help homebuyers and homeowners qualify for energy rebates and a variety of private and government loan programs.  Certification as a Home Energy Rater is a National certification.  It is accepted (along with a joint certification as a BPI Building Analyst) as the Kansas Energy Auditor Certification necessary for auditors wishing to participate in the new 'Efficiency Kansas' weatherization programs, loans and rebates.
